LexCorp Unveils Eco-Drones, Promises to “Save the Planet, Responsibly”

METROPOLIS — LexCorp has announced its latest innovation: a fleet of autonomous eco-drones designed to monitor pollution, replant forests, clean waterways, and, according to the press release, “usher in a greener tomorrow powered by uncompromising human ingenuity.”

The drones, dubbed VERDANT-1, were revealed yesterday in a sleek glass auditorium beneath a 40-foot hologram of the Earth slowly turning from gray to emerald green. Attendees were handed recycled aluminum pamphlets and complimentary bamboo water bottles. The message was clear: this time, LexCorp is being nice.

“Environmental collapse is inefficient,” said Lex Luthor, CEO of LexCorp, adjusting his tie as a drone hummed politely over the audience. “These drones exist to correct that inefficiency.”

What the Drones Do (Allegedly)

According to LexCorp engineers, VERDANT-1 units are capable of:

  • Identifying toxic runoff and neutralizing it in real time

  • Planting up to 10,000 trees per day using compressed seed pods

  • Scrubbing microplastics from oceans

  • Tracking carbon output with “unprecedented precision”

LexCorp insists the drones are non-weaponized, a point repeated no fewer than eight times during the presentation, including once on a slide titled “They Do Not Shoot Lasers (Anymore).”

Public Reaction: Cautious Applause, Raised Eyebrows

Environmental groups have responded with measured optimism and visible suspicion.

“If these drones do even half of what LexCorp claims, it’s a breakthrough,” said Dr. Lila Moreno of the Global Climate Coalition. “But this is LexCorp. We’re reading the fine print. Very closely. With binoculars.”

Online, reactions were more pointed. One trending post on MetaPulse read:

“Love the trees. Nervous about the part where they ‘observe all variables.’ What variables, Lex?”

Superhero Community: Watching Quietly

Notably absent from the event was Superman, though sources confirm he has been “aware of the situation for several days,” which in Metropolis is generally interpreted as a warning label.

A Justice League spokesperson declined to comment, though an anonymous League member reportedly muttered, “We’ve done this episode before.”

The LexCorp Promise

Luthor concluded the launch with a familiar confidence.

“Progress requires trust,” he said. “And LexCorp has always delivered progress.”

The drones will begin pilot programs in the Amazon, the Indian Ocean, and several “undisclosed locations” starting next month.

Whether VERDANT-1 becomes humanity’s green guardian or just another chapter in LexCorp’s complicated legacy remains to be seen. For now, the drones hover patiently in the sky, planting trees, scanning data, and absolutely, definitely not plotting anything.
